Adolis García and Jonah Heim were non-tendered by the Texas Rangers, making them free agents. Garcia and Heim each contributed to the Rangers’ first World Series title in 2023, but the organization has now shifted to bringing in younger players, which typically means less money spent.
García, 32, who was projected to make $12.1 million for the 2026 season according to Sports Illustrated, has spent his seven-year big league career all with the Texas Rangers and has been one of the faces of baseball over these last several years. Over his last seven years, he represented the Rangers twice in the All-Star Game and also won his first Gold Glove in 2023. In 2023, García became known to the baseball world for both his defense and offense. During the 2023 playoffs, his numbers at the plate earned him the 2023 American League Championship Series (ALCS) most valuable player award. The postseason as a whole, he batted .323 with a .382 on-base percentage and a .726 slugging percentage. García’s postseason was highlighted by his eight home runs, 22 RBI, and 11 runs scored.

Heim, 33, is known for defense behind the plate as a catcher, was an All-Star in 2023, and also won his first Gold Glove that same year. Heim was projected to make $6 million in the 2026 season and will latch on with a new organization. During his 2023 All-Star season, he owned a .258 batting average.317 on-base percentage, .438 slugging percentage, 18 home runs, 28 doubles, 95 RBI, and 61 runs scored. Over his past two seasons, his offense declined after batting .220 in 2024 and .213 in 2025, but he will look to take advantage of a new environment with his next organization.
